Role Overview
As an Apprentice at CGI, you will be embedded in the Software Development & Engineering team where you will work on data integration, SQL-based solutions, and insurance technology projects. This role is specifically designed for fresh graduates who want to build skills in enterprise data platforms like Informatica, industry-standard database querying, and domain knowledge in the insurance sector. CGI’s apprentice programme is structured to fast-track your technical growth while giving you the stability and mentorship of a Fortune 500-level IT firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Integration Development: Work with Informatica PowerCenter or IICS to build and maintain ETL pipelines that move data across enterprise systems for insurance clients.
- SQL Query Writing & Optimization's: Write, test, and optimise SQL queries to support data extraction, transformation, and reporting tasks for business users and technical teams.
- Insurance Domain Support: Develop working knowledge of insurance business processes including policy management, claims, and underwriting to better align technical solutions with business needs.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Participate in unit testing, integration testing, and bug fixing to ensure software deliverables meet the agreed quality standards and client requirements.
- Documentation: Prepare technical documentation for code, processes, and data flows, ensuring knowledge transfer and compliance with CGI’s engineering standards.
- Collaboration: Work within an Agile team alongside senior consultants, business analysts, and project managers to deliver projects on time and within scope.
- Learning & Development: Actively participate in CGI’s internal training modules, upskilling in areas like cloud platforms, DevOps, and domain knowledge to accelerate career progression.
Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, or any related engineering discipline
- Batch Year: 2024, 2025, and 2026 graduating batches are eligible
- Academic Performance: Good academic record; no active backlogs preferred
- Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of SQL; exposure to Informatica or data integration concepts is a plus; programming fundamentals in Java or Python preferred
- Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to work in a team-oriented, client-facing environment
