Job Overview
We are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Junior Data Engineer to join our data team. The ideal candidate will assist in the design, development, and maintenance of our data warehouse solutions and ETL processes, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for business intelligence and analytics. This role requires a strong foundation in Python and SQL, problem-solving skills, and an eagerness to learn cloud-based data technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Pipeline Development: Assist in designing and building data pipelines and Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to move data from various sources into the data warehouse.
- Database Management: Work with relational (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and potentially NoSQL databases to manage, store, and retrieve data efficiently.
- Coding & Automation: Write clean, efficient, and well-documented Python code for backend systems, data processing, and task automation.
- Data Quality & Testing: Conduct data profiling, cleansing, and testing to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and other team members to understand data requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
- Documentation & Support: Assist in maintaining technical documentation for data flows, processes, and data models, and provide support for data-related issues.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in core Python programming concepts (data types, control structures, functions, OOP) and SQL for database querying and manipulation.
- Databases: Basic understanding of database management systems and data warehousing concepts (e.g., star schemas, dimensional modeling).
- Tools: Familiarity with version control systems, especially Git, and an eagerness to learn ETL tools or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills
- Exposure to Python data manipulation libraries like Pandas or NumPy.
- Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, Kafka) or cloud-based data services.
